Hello, and welcome! I am Addison Nakashima, the face behind itsDocNak and I am so glad you are here!

I wanted to take a chance to introduce myself so this space makes more sense. I am currently a family medicine resident in the great state of Oklahoma. I have the unique opportunity of being in a Christian residency program, and my faith is something very important to me. Being a resident, I don’t have a ton of free time, but when I do, I love spending it with my husband, Chris, and our three dogs, Rowan the chocolate lab, Higgins the German Shepherd, and Mojo Jojo the pug. I also enjoy quilting, reading, golfing, watching baseball, traveling, and all things true crime!

I have been in the blogging realm for many years now. I started writing in 2014, during freshman year of college. It was a really great way to organize my thoughts, and process a lot of the new feelings I was experiencing in that phase of life. I started sharing what I wrote to social media and people enjoyed my posts, so I kept writing. When I started preparing for medical school, I took a break from the public share space for a while. As I finished medical school, I began writing again and have been gathering my writings to start sharing again.

I am so excited to share about my journey to medical school, my experiences while there, all about residency life, faith, and even some book reviews too! I’m writing this as a space about the journey–not the destination. There will be hard topics, disappointments, celebrations, encouragements, and more. I can’t promise you will love every post, but I can promise one thing…

It’s going to be a reflection of me–imperfect, but genuine.
